As the oldest of three imaginative girls with a penchant for boredom and limited screen time, my narration career began quite young.
I still have an old copy of Ella Enchanted with scribbles in the margins, annotating voice changes for the fairy cook or the prince–even some accent ideas for the parrot speaking Gnomish.
My twelve year-old self was dedicated.
My dog, who is terribly bitter he didn't make it into the about page.
But there is so much more to narration than a passion for stories.
My first foray into the world of audio was as a podcast host for authors with serialised fiction online. My favourite part of each episode was reading the author snippets of their own work. And now here we are!
There is always more to learn (and thank goodness; I never did learn to handle boredom well!). But bringing stories to life means more to me than it did before. Cultivating a voice strong enough to hold the architecture of an author’s ink. Holding space for a world as vast as the pages in which it was first built. And finding peices of myself and other in the stories you write. Just as I did as a child.
Gnomish parrots and all. 🙂
